If too much of a good thing is still a good thing . . . what about an entire afternoon tour of said good things? Sunday, in honor of Dan’s visit from Sacramento, Zack, Dan, Alison, Sterling and I set out to the Seattle donut tour that Zack and I have only joked/dreamed about.
Top Pot Donuts
We started our tour at Top Pot, where we sampled the Chocolate Sandcastle and the Old-Fashioned Glazed. Here we started out strong—enjoying every sugary bit of chocolate-y, cook-ie, melt-in-your-mouth-greasy goodness.

Mighty-O Donuts
From Top Pot we moved on to Mighty-Os, delicious vegan animal-derived-ingredients-free donuts. [Because, as I learned from Dan and Allison this weekend, sugar is not vegan/vegetarian.] By this point, my ability to ingest sugar was already compromised, but we still shared some Oreo concoction and a Grasshopper mint donut. To wash down all that sugar, Mighty-O Donuts serves Stumptown Coffee, a Portland-based roastery that now has a Seattle location, much to my tastebuds’ delight and my pocketbook’s chagrin (a pound of the stuff is around $25).

Daily Dozen Donut Co.
As the long lines would attest, the Daily Dozen serves up one mean, albeit tiny, little bit of fried dough. Still warm, the best ones are the Cinnamon-Sugar ones, though the Powdered Sugar and the Chocolate Frosting with Sprinkles are also quite delicious.

Dahlia’s Bakery
Sadly, our insulin gave out . . .and we had to leave out this stop. But since I’ve not yet had the privilege of sampling Tom Douglas’ donuts, Zack and I will definitely be going sometime in the near future.
Our next tour idea? Cupcakes, of course. Anyone interested?

dammit… why did I move to LA?

I only took in, like, two total bites during doughnut day, since I was saving myself for Dahlia’s. Siiigh… maybe next time Dan’s in town…

Definitely for a cupcake tour. Trophy, anyone?

This is excellent – largely because I never even realized just how many donut options were available in Seattle…my body is already screaming in protest.

My gosh…Is that what folks do in Seattle…? I have a massive stomach ache just thinking about all those donuts.
Actually, i think we’ve had the tiny ones before…they were super. Have fun with the cupcakes!!!
